The Queensland Government Department of Education's exhibition 'Creative Generation Excellence Awards in Visual Art' showcases the artworks of 31 Queensland senior secondary art students from regional and metropolitan schools.

In 2018, 'Creative Generation' includes photography, painting, mixed media, sculpture, video and installation works by young Queensland artists who have been exploring contemporary ideas and art-making processes during their 2017 academic year. Through windows into worlds both familiar and unknown, these students' works present viewers with moments that range from deep introspection to whimsical play. Their research and experimentation offer insights into cultural identity, key ethical dilemmas of our time, and a sense of our relationship to the natural world.

The exhibition features an interactive digital catalogue with artwork information and images. Artist statements are also available throughout the space. Teachers and students can download a copy of the Artists' Statements.

The 'Creative Generation Excellence Awards in Visual Art' is an initiative of the Department of Education, supported by the Queensland Art Gallery ǀ Gallery of Modern Art.
