Kitty Kantilla made these prints as part of a collaboration between Tiwi artists from the Jilamara Arts and Crafts Association of Melville Island and the Australian Print Workshop in Melbourne. The initial project began in 1995 and focused on providing artists with access to new printmaking mediums and techniques, facilitating access to resources that would otherwise have been unavailable. Kantilla first worked with the Australian Print Workshop in 1996, and in the last years of her life began creating loosely painted canvases in a radical departure from the techniques exhibited in this body of work.
