Kozo Miyoshi's photographic series ‘Roots’ 1987–90 captures the transformation of botanical specimens into uncanny bodily forms through the process of decay. Presented as grotesque, bulbous objects that have been unnaturally squeezed into manmade, machine-fabricated containers, Japan’s Miyoshi’s photographs reflect on the biological similarities and differences that exist between humans and plants.
