LABEL: HILDER (VARIOUS)
JJ Hilder’s watercolours can be seen as refinements of the natural world eliminating all but the essence of the moment, leaving one’s imagination to complete the subject. The artist’s command of blue — said by fellow artist Lionel Lindsay to be ‘the most difficult of all colours on the palette to manage’ — was remarkable.
