Frank Sherrin worked in oils and watercolours, but had no formal art training, apart from some lessons in watercolour technique from Vida Lahey. He concentrated on Queensland seascapes and landscapes, and recorded selected urban sites in Brisbane, many of which have since been demolished. This scene is typical of Sherrin’s watercolour style, with its fresh colours and emphasis on clouds and sky. The close relationship between sky, land and trees is rendered for a sense of scale and movement.
