Robert Campbell’s watercolour captures an air of brooding mystery surrounding the Glass House Mountains in the midst of a storm. Campbell’s is one of many representations of the south-east Queensland landmark in the Gallery’s Collection. This work was reproduced in The 1950 Courier-Mail Annual: Queensland, where the caption read:
Storm sweeping on Glasshouse Mountains, by Mr Robert Campbell, recently appointed Director of the Queensland National Art Gallery, who was commissioned by The Courier-Mail to paint this picture.
