BIO: Jack Pickup
b.1909, Lancashire, England – unknown
Jack Pickup attended the Manchester School of Art. He painted various scenes in Lancashire before marrying in 1938 and moving to Plymouth to teach art at the Devonport High School for Boys. During World War Two, Pickup served in the British Royal Air Force and was stationed in Brisbane from 1943 to 1946. Following the war, he returned to England and became art master at the Plymouth College of Art. A number of Pickup’s oils depicting Plymouth scenes may be found in the collection of the Plymouth City Museum and Art Gallery.
