LABEL: 2023.344a- MANNING
Ross Manning’s ‘Spectra’ series of kinetic sculptures uses coloured light to mix new colours on the gallery walls as the work rotates. Manning has contextualised his practice as follows:
All images travel with light, either projected from screens or reflected from objects in the natural world. Today, most of our information comes from digital images (i.e. electronic displays, smartphones, TVs, projectors, etc.), and this is a potent topic that I’m drawn to. [This work is] a form of electronic image, but made within parameters, not of traditional technologies, but of my own making.1
