Irene Entata often remembers times gone by, which she refers to as the ‘Mission Days’. Many of her pots show the old white mission buildings, which are now separated from the rest of the community as the Hermannsburg Historical Precinct.
Here women and their babies are shown lining up for Sunday church service. The men wait separately, away from the women. The separation of men and women was initiated by the missionaries who preferred to teach males and females separately.
