Static electricity of cat’s cradle takes its title from the children’s string game known as cat’s cradle. In the game, string is looped on the fingers to make an elaborate web-like pattern that can be transferred to the hands of other players and varied accordingly. Donghee Koo draws on the wonder of this game with sly humour, transposing the game into an adult world of relationships. The video portrays two bodies entangled by strings, their movements mediated by an apparatus. The harness functions as a contraption that draws attention to the space between two people who, while they reach for connection, must overcome their environment.
