In Reinhardt Dammn: Things the mind already knows 2010, Scott Redford recalls the history of colour field painting by reproducing the standard colour television test pattern. Used for monitor calibration, the test pattern was shown by television stations each night to close broadcast up until the late 1990s — making it one of the most familiar everyday abstract images of that era. The immense scale of this painting reinforces the omnipresence of television culture and its influence on our lifestyle and behaviour.
