Ka Huli Au (time of great upheaval) is concerned with the impact of tourism on Hawaiʻi and the sacrifices the ‘āina (land and its resources of Hawaiʻi) must endure to support this economy. The viewer is invited to reflect on this theme from the elevated viewpoint of the ancient gods, as they seem to mourn for the expanse of sacred land hidden beneath urban development.
