Furlonger's typical bravura brushstroke usually needs large-scale space to look most effective; this, however, is not the case with this vase. The deft brushstrokes commend the surface of the pot with great assurance, reminiscent of the Derek Smith vases decorated by Brett Whiteley in the 1970s.
