YAMAGUCHI, Keisuke; Mille plateaux
Born in the Hyogo Prefecture in 1962, Keisuke Yamaguchi graduated from the Musashino Art University in 1985 and has since been represented in exhibitions in Tokyo, Kyoto, Hiroshima, Takamatsu and Taipei. Yamaguchi's large etchings from the late 1980s often use the symbol of a boat or tomb, and embrace 'accidents' in the printing process. The writer Atsuo Yamada explained: 'The works by this artist all result from within the pendulum-like swing of the premeditation and accident. Image-wise, he fuses inorganic constructions, such as a ship/casket that looks like an aerodynamic locomotive, and strange organic substances, such as a plant or a sprouting seed-spore.'(1)
