Joachim Froese uses photography to create staged realities that occupy a space between the humorous and the absurd, titling the works with the term ‘rhopography’ – from the Greek word rhopos, meaning trivial objects, small wares or everyday trifles. The arrangements in Rhopography #24 (figs), Rhopography #39 (fish) and Rhopography #42 (paw paw) are staged by hand, creating the illusion of life by animating and reanimating deceased and decaying plants and animals.
