PATRICIA PICCININI
Exhibition story

A view of a caravan installed in a dark gallery space; it appears to be occupied by two sleeping figures.

Known for her imaginative, yet strangely familiar, lifelike hybrid creatures, Patricia Piccinini invites us to think about our place in a world where advances in biotechnology and digital technologies are challenging the boundaries of humanity. Her fantastic hybrid beings invite us to find beauty in a world not ruled by notions of perfection.

Piccinini’s ambitious and immersive exhibition ‘Curious Affection’ was on display at GOMA from 25 March to 5 August 2018. Hear the artist talk about the meaning and inspiration behind her works or dive deeper into her practice via our playlist on YouTube.
