Senior Pintupi artist Mick Namarari Tjapaltjarri was a founding member of the watershed Papunya Tula Artists movement. These two works portray Tjukurpa (Dreamings) that pay homage to the spiritual power of the land and its canine inhabitants.
Tjapaltjarri’s Dingo Dreaming tells the story of a dingo looking for food in the foothills west of Papunya. The three columns of bulbous, linked forms are lines of sandhills. Between the sandhills are two sets of dingo tracks headed in opposing directions; this suggests that the area is well known to the dingo in its methodical search for sustenance.
