Jacoulet noted of this work that the subject, from an island in the Truk Atoll, is of both European and Indigenous heritage. Standing on a veranda, she looks out into the dark blue night, her long hair pulled up at the nape of her neck. The yellow flowers framing her open only at night and, we can imagine, surround her with an intoxicating scent, while they anchor a spiderweb of silver threads.
