Narpula Scobie Napurrula was born in the Haasts Bluff area and is the youngest sister of the painter Turkey Tolson, and is a member of the Pintupi tribe. She lives in the Papunya region in the Central Desert. She began to paint with non-traditional materials in the early 1980s, one of the first women to begin painting in the Papunya area. She remains, to date, the only senior Pintupi woman painting for Papunya Tula Artists. Aspects of tribal Aboriginal life are governed by gender including the subject matter of art works. In this work the artist has shown a women's Dreaming site east of the secret cave site of Mitukatjirri, to the south-east of the Kintore Community. The 'U' shapes are women who are playing the munni-munni game. This involves clearing an area of ground immediately in front of themselves and placing leaves in a pattern on the ground while tapping the ground with a stick and chanting the songs associated with munni-munni. This game is said to attract an eligible man. The oblong shapes are the women's dancing boards, the straight red and yellow bars are their digging-sticks and the sinuous yellow lines on either side of the painting are hair-string.
