This kangaroo is a doe (female) red kangaroo (Macropus rufus), known commonly as a ‘blue flyer' because of the bluish tint to their coats. The red kangaroo travels in small groups known as mobs and is the world's largest marsupial, growing to heights of almost three metres. Their size makes them an important food source for people of the more arid parts of Australia.
