Featuring three green peaks, this work represents the mountainous region of Simbu Province in Papua New Guinea, from which Alison Wel and her family descend. The land belongs to members of the artist’s family and is affectionately called Yuri land. Wel has knotted the words ‘VOICE FROM YURI’ across the top of her work suggesting that, in this context, she is speaking for her people and her home.
