At the wall was Martin Lewis's last print. This scene, according to the artist, was set at York Avenue and 89th Street, New York City. In the catalogue raisonné The prints of Martin Lewis, it is recorded that no editions of this print were sold through Kennedy and Company (the artist's agent), although Lewis himself sold one print for $15 to Werner Knoxton (the donor of this work) and one for $25 to Bill and Frieda Knoxton. The date of these sales is unrecorded.
