Nick Mount is a figurehead in the Australian studio glass movement, studying at the South Australian School of Art 1970–71 and subsequently at the Gippsland Institute of Advanced Education. In 1977 Mount established the 'One Off' studio, which at the time was the first full-time, private hot glass studio in Australia. Subsequently relocating to Budgeree, Victoria in October 1978 he renamed it Budgeree Glass. Willows and creek 1982 is an example of a collaborative piece of the Budgeree Glass and part of a range of bowls, vases and goblets developed by Mount during this time. It is also an example of Mount's early work, where the light green vase has been blown and then sandblasted by Hanning to create a river scene, then finished with an acid polish.
