‘150 Years: Queensland Photography’
Photography in Queensland from the Gallery Collection
Jun 2009 - Oct 2009

Works installed for '150 Years', QAG, September 2013 / Photograph: N Harth, QAGOMA

This exhibition explores the Gallery's holdings of photographs made in Queensland in the years since the state was formed in 1859. The Gallery's first profile of the broad sweep of Queensland photography from its beginnings to the present day coincides with the celebration of the state's sesquicentenary.

'150 Years: Photography in Queensland' honours the local history of photography and emphasises the variety of contexts in which photography has been used in Queensland: as a tool of industry, in the family and by artists as a personal medium of expression.

‘150 Years: Photography in Queensland’ was on display at QAG, from 27 June to 4 October 2009. The sample list of works below is non-exhaustive.
