‘A Feeling for Light’ explores the evocative works of Isaac Walter Jenner. A self-taught marine and landscape painter, Jenner’s contribution to Australian painting deserves wider recognition. With works selected from the strong holdings in our Collection, along with those from public and private collections, this exhibition aims to fittingly acknowledge the artist’s considerable achievements.
Just over 120 years since Jenner’s death in Brisbane in 1902, it is timely to present ‘A Feeling for Light’ (2 Sep 2023 to 28 Jan 2024), an exhibition that acknowledges his substantial contribution to the cultural and artistic life of Queensland.
Below, explore the works of art included in ‘A Feeling for Light’; the first list shows works in the QAGOMA Collection, and the second details works on loan to the Gallery from both public and private collections.
