‘Rising Voices: Contemporary Art from Asia, Australia and the Pacific’ presents the work of 40 artists from Australia, Asia and the Pacific. A collaboration between the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A), London, and the Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA), Brisbane, Australia, the exhibition features works drawn from across more than 30 years of the Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art exhibition series. It particularly foregrounds First Nations perspectives and diverse approaches to art-making, as well as rare examples by pioneering figures, and many pieces never before exhibited outside the region. The works carry deep meaning, drawing on long-established artistic languages that respond to history and navigate contemporary experience. They also reflect the ever-changing nature of enduring cultures.
The V&A and QAGOMA acknowledge the many First Nations artists and communities represented in the exhibition and acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land on which QAGOMA stands in Brisbane.
